Hello! I'm Chanelle Doctor (she/her), the behavior scientist, clinician, and founder behind Behavioral Empowerment Therapy, Consulting, and Wellness, PLLC.

Chanelle Doctor

Chanelle Doctor is a highly experienced clinician. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Registered Drama Therapist, and Functional Medicine and Trauma Specialist with over 16 years in the field. She holds a BA in Theatre Performance from Longwood University, an M.Ed in Special Education from Cambridge College, and has pursued further specialization in Psychodrama and Drama Therapy at Lesley University and Applied Behavior Analysis at the Florida Institute of Technology.  Ms. Doctor attained her certification in Functional Medicine and Trauma from the Arizona Trauma Institute. Ms. Doctor is double board certified in Behavior Analysis and Drama Therapy, and is a licensed special education teacher, with experience teaching in Virginia, North Carolina, and Massachusetts. Ms. Doctor continues her multidisciplinary approach and functional medicine education by training to become a Board Certified Holistic Nutritionist, Registered Clinical Herbalist, and National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach at Hill College through the Holistic Wellness Program.

Experience

Throughout her career, she has worked in educational, clinical, and home-based settings, primarily with children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and related neurodevelopmental disorders. Her experience includes working with children in therapeutic settings, treating mental health challenges like major depressive disorder, anxiety, PTSD, and more. In North Carolina, she supported individuals with ASD in rural areas and treated Marines at the Intrepid Spirit TBI clinic. Now in Virginia, Ms. Doctor treats both neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals seeking holistic healing.

Approach

Her approach is person-centered and humanistic, combining behavioral therapies, creative & expressive arts, functional medicine, and holistic healthcare. She views clients as whole beings, addressing their mental, physical, spiritual, social, and environmental needs.
